Well as you can see by the title and as I warned last week, the World War II journal is now wrapped up, there are some pictures in the media gallery from newspaper clippings and such that go along with the journal that can be seen here. Also just got back from a vacation to Hannibal, and then up to the Amana Colonies in Iowa. I didn't take a lot of pictures but what few I did take I've uploaded here for your enjoyment, you can see them by clicking here. Also in that selection is a couple of pictures of Becky at various stages of her pregnancy. Only 9 more weeks to go :). Don't even ask about the last picture in that section...My sister asked to see "the tree" that's all I'll say.

WWII Journal about to wrap up. PDF Print

Well the World War II journal is just about to be wrapped up. I think there's probably about one more installement after this week and then the entire thing will be out there. I'm not quite sure how I'll handle the front page section of it, right now I'm leaning towards some sort of automated processing whereby it the front page will just continue to cycle through the installements from the beginning again for a while, rotating out once per week. Alternately I may just remove that section from the front page. The archives of course will always be available here. With the ending of this series I'm going to have to make an extra effort to make sure I actualy get a rant done each week, as I want to make sure I keep the dynamic content of the site updated in some small fashion at least once a week or so. I'm hoping that things around the house might get settled down a bit, but I'm really not counting on it, especially since we've only really got a couple more months to go before Baby # 2 arrives.:)

Well, I just felt like I needed to get something of an update out here, seeing as how it's been quite a while since the last rant. I'm working on the next rant, and I hope to actually have something out there by the end of the week, but who knows how the next couple of days are going to go with the holidays and all. I also just uploaded a couple of new pictures in the "Emily" gallery that I took over last weekend, be sure to stop by and take a look at my beautiful little neice.

New Digital Camera PDF Print
Written by Jonathan Haase
Tuesday, 18 June 2002
Well as I mentioned in the last news story, I recently purchased a new digital camera. I've been having a great time playing around with it lately and now I've fianally got just a little bit of time to resize some of the pictures that I took with it and post them here in the media section. I have to resize them because the at the lowest quality setting that the camera will do the pictures would completely fill the screen on a computer running 800x600 resolution, and they take up quite a bit of disk space, so I'll size them all down just a bit and post them here. Look for them to be up in a new "Playing around" gallery under the media section, sometime later this afternoon.

New Media in the Gallery PDF Print

Well I finally went and did it. I bought a digital camera last night. I haven't had much time to play around with it yet, but so far I really like it. It can take still images as well as quicktime movies. I played around with it a bit last night just to see what I could do. I've uploaded a video of Andrew singing "Twinkle, Twinkle little star" that I recorded last night using it's lowest quality video mode. Unfortunatly it's still almost 4MB and not the best in quality or size, but hey it works. It's the first thing under the Drew2 gallery, beware it'll probably take a while to load since as I mentioned above it's almost 4MB.The new gallery solution won't do video, so I'll simplyaddit to this post. Click the Read More link to see the video.I'm working on getting some software to convert it to a video format that has a bit better compression ratio so that I can hopefully get it a bit smaller filesize, and yet a decent picture size soon. I also added a jpg still that was taken just before that quicktime movie, with his mouth full of cookie, and his cheesey smile going. That's the second picture in the Drew Gallery 2.
