Well I finally have just about all of the content pulled in from the "old site". Some of the news stories really aren't relevant any longer with the new site as they pertained to features that I was adding on the old site, which has been completely replaced by new and updated features on the new site. However I still pulled it in for historical purposes if nothing else. Many of the links in the imported news articles will not work any longer since they link to parts of the site that don't exist any longer, however I'll be trying to fix those as I get time.
I never realized quite how badly I had neglected the site until I started importing all of this old content on the site. The last real update I did on anything on the site was almost two years ago when I first talked about redoing the whole site. Well it's taken me two years to get there, but I did finally follow through on that promise. It's pretty obvious when things dropped off the map as well. There were two major events that took place around the time my output to the website really started declining. The first was the birth of our second child Abigail. Things really declined at that point, I don't think I ever realized how much different it was going to be with two children in the house instead of one. They really keep us running. The second major event that happened was me starting my new job at Lamm Technical Resources. That is about the point in time when updates completely stopped happening.
Things have definitely been interesting at my new job, if you can even call it that any more since I've been there for almost three years now. I can't say that I've had a single boring day since I started. Yet my stress level is almost off the bottom of the scale compared to what it was working for I-Land. I'm definitely still enjoying myself. There have been very few days since I took this position that I've ever questioned my decision to go to work for Rob Lamm. I can probably count them on one hand, and they were pretty much all early on, and the result of me feeling sorry for the people that I left behind at I-Land. It really is a great thing have a job where you know that you are respected and valued, and that people actually listen to your ideas and opinions. Things also got much easier for me on my conscious about the guy that had to take over all of my responsibilities at I-Land when I left.
About four months ago I got an email out of the blue from Mike Gomez, the guy that had to take over for me at I-Land when I left. He was finally fed up with the workload and having to be on call all the time, and was looking for a way out. After some discussions with Rob, he was hired at Lamm shortly there-after. He's already proving to be a valuable asset to the company, and has really helped reduce my workload quite a bit. He is finally starting to relax a bit more around the guys and starting to fit in quite well.
The rest of the guys that I work with are great as well. They are all a really sharp bunch of guys and I have great confidence in all of them. I really feel like between all of us there isn't much in the world of computers that we cannot accomplish.
Anyway there is a lot more I could say here to bring everyone up to speed with what's been going on my life, but I'm out of time for tonight, and out of steam as well. It's bedtime at the Haase household and I'm tired. My next update for the site will be to pull in all of media galleries from the old site, and the next news update I bring you up to speed on what's been going with Becky and the kids over the last two years. I don't expect to get any new rants put up for a while, as it's taking all my spare time just to get everything else up to speed with the site. Maybe someone will submit a new Guest Rant or two in the mean time.
