New Project PDF Print

Ok so I haven't updated the site in a while.  I know I'm slacking.  Haven't had much to add lately, but I thought now I'd share the details of a new little side project I'm working on.  Well over 20 years ago now Becky's Grandfather built a little car for her to ride around in.  It was basically a go-cart with a sheet metal body.  Well it's been sitting in a barn at Becky's dad's farm for the last 20 years in storage.  Don pulled it out of storage and brought it down to me recently.  I'm working on converting it to an all electric set up.  It's proven pretty interesting so far.

I don't really know how it's all going to work out, but so far I've gotten the old lawnmower engine ripped out, and a few parts ordered.  Right now I'm mostly stuck trying to locate a decent motor controller for it.  I'm trying to build it as a 24V system with two 12V batteries in Series.  If for some reason this doesn't have enought power I guess I'll end up going to a 36V system, but I'd rather not, the extra battery is going to add a lot of weight.  Anyway read on for more details and some pictures.

Overdue update PDF Print

It's well past time for the semi-annual update of the site.  Things have been crazy as usual for the Haase family.  Then as the saying goes, life is what happens while you are busy making plans.  As is in my opinion only appropriate, updating this site takes a back seat to spending time with the kids, and other such activities.

In any case it's time to sum up the recent happenings around the rabbit-hole.  As anyone who follows the forums here probably already knows, I'm soon to be an uncle yet again.  My sister and her husband are expecting their third child, a girl, that'll make two girls and one boy for their family, the poor guys will be outnumbered.  We celebrated Abigail's 5th birthday last month with a small get together at the rabbit-warren, it's amazing how fast they grow up.

Quick update PDF Print

I just wanted to drop a quick update on the recent goings on around the Rabbit Hole.  Becky and I took the kids on a week long trip to visit my sister in Maryland.  We all had a great time and we took a lot of pictures.  I posted a few of them in the 2007 gallery, under the Vacation sub-gallery .  I don't think any of us were ready to come back home, though I'm certain my sister and brother-in-law were probably getting tired of having to entertain us.  The kids really enjoyed their first ever airplane flight, as well as a trip to the National Aqarium in Baltimore.  Then Bruce and Annette treated us to a 2 hour cruise around the bay on a "Skipjack" which is a specific kind of sail boat.  I think we all had a blast with the entire trip, and the kids have yet to be able to tell me any one part that they enjoyed more than the rest.  When asked what was their favorite thing we did on vacation, they both say "All of it".

More Updates PDF Print
Written by Jonathan Haase

Well I finally have just about all of the content pulled in from the "old site". Some of the news stories really aren't relevant any longer with the new site as they pertained to features that I was adding on the old site, which has been completely replaced by new and updated features on the new site. However I still pulled it in for historical purposes if nothing else. Many of the links in the imported news articles will not work any longer since they link to parts of the site that don't exist any longer, however I'll be trying to fix those as I get time.

I never realized quite how badly I had neglected the site until I started importing all of this old content on the site. The last real update I did on anything on the site was almost two years ago when I first talked about redoing the whole site. Well it's taken me two years to get there, but I did finally follow through on that promise. It's pretty obvious when things dropped off the map as well. There were two major events that took place around the time my output to the website really started declining. The first was the birth of our second child Abigail. Things really declined at that point, I don't think I ever realized how much different it was going to be with two children in the house instead of one. They really keep us running. The second major event that happened was me starting my new job at Lamm Technical Resources. That is about the point in time when updates completely stopped happening.
